Practice of Medicine (POM)

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides simulation education activities for medical students at the EM-STAT Center.

POM I - Basic Life Support Training

Students apply didactic knowledge to a simulated patient in cardiac arrest to demonstrate:

  • Proper rescue breathing & CPR technique
  • How to attach a victim to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device
  • Ability to identify special conditions taht may alter the use of an AED
  • Performance in various AED scenarios

POM II - Abnormal Vital Signs

Students apply basic pathophysiology and pharmacology principles in treating simulated patients with critical complaints
