Student Health Services

The Student Health Office is located at 175 Elizabeth Blackwell Street, Syracuse, NY, in Jacobsen Hall on the 4th floor. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am 4:30 pm. After hours, weekends, and holidays coverage is provided through Upstate Family Medicine at 315-492-3400.

The student health fee supports the services provided by Student Health Services.

Student Health provides primary care including:

  • Evaluation and treatment of acute illness and injuries, and ongoing medical conditions
  • Annual Health Assessments
  • Mask Fit Testing
  • Tuberculin Screening Tests
  • Sexual & Reproductive Health Care
  • Physical exams & immunization updates (Tdap, Hep B, Flu) for clinical rotations
  • Allergy injections
  • Referrals for specialist services when necessary

A number of over the counter medications are provided for colds, minor trauma and skin conditions.

Appointments may conveniently be scheduled by accessing our health portal at https://eshportal.upstate.edu/.
To log in, type in your Upstate username and password and schedule a Nurse Visit or Provider Appointment, based on the needed visit. 

If you are unable to find an availability to meet your current need you may contact Student Health at 315-464-5470, ext. 4.

If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment please access the portal or call to cancel or reschedule your visit with us.

Staff

Student Health is staffed by a Physician, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant, Nurses and Administrative Staff. Under routine circumstances, the student will be seen by the Nurse Practitioner. If a problem requires a Physician consultation, the Student Health
Physician will review the case and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled.

Emergency Care

Emergency care is available at the Upstate University Hospital Emergency Department at Downtown or Community Campus. Identify yourself as an Upstate student and notify the Student Health Office the next business day. Your health insurance will be billed for Emergency Department charges.

Urgent Care

Urgent care services (when Student Health is closed) are available locally through various Urgent Care Centers. Your health insurance will be billed for visit & diagnostic test charges.

Student Health Advisory Committee

The Student Health Advisory Committee is composed of students from each college and representatives from Student Health, Student Affairs, Student Counseling, and Finance and Management.

The role of the Committee is to make decisions concerning health services, student health fee, student health insurance coverage, and other student health related issues that may arise.

Questions or comments regarding Student Health Services may be directed to this committee, Student Council leadership or to Student Support Services.
