Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP)
A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse that seeks to improve the mental health of individuals across the lifespan.
Our program looks to prepare nurses as expert providers of care to clients with psychiatric concerns across various health care settings. Program faculty equip students with the advanced clinical judgment and expertise needed to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, manage and evaluate holistic plans of care. Students are prepared to provide various interventions, including treatment with psychotropic medications, individual, group, and family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and collaboration with integrated care teams.
Additionally, the program fosters the roles of educator, leader, and change agent that are essential to provide evidence-driven advanced practice psychiatric care.
Upon graduation, students will meet the criteria to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification examination.
