Ultrasound, BS/BPS: Curriculum

There are two degree programs available for students studying Ultrasound at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Both programs are two years (5 semesters) long and start in the fall semester.  

During the program, students rotate through clinical education settings throughout New York State. Upon graduation, all Ultrasound graduates are eligible to take the national registry exam.

Available Degree Programs

Graduates of both programs are eligible to take the national registry exam.

Bachelor of Science Degree Program (BS)

Graduates of the ultrasound program are eligible to take the ARDMS certification examinations.

Bachelor of Professional Studies Program (BPS)

This program is for students who have an associate's degree, the required prerequisite courses, and ARRT certification or certification-eligible in medical imaging (X-ray).

A bachelor of professional studies degree will be awarded as a BPS Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) degree.
