Medical Biotechnology - Bachelor of Science

Accepting Applications for Early Assurance for High School Seniors and Regular Admission:

Early Assurance for High School, Early Assurance for College Freshmen and Regular Admissions.

The baccalaureate program in medical biotechnology educates students in the areas of molecular biology and aspects of clinical laboratory science that pertain to biomedical research and laboratory diagnosis.

Biotechnology is the cornerstone for creating and developing advances in research and products that improve the health of people and the environments in which they work and live. Biotechnology has many applications, including combating rare diseases, helping reduce our environmental footprint, and developing safe and efficient manufacturing processes.

What Does a Medical Biotechnologist Do?

Graduates specializing in medical biotechnology work with a team to conduct medical research in academic or industrial settings. In university laboratories, these individuals assist scientists by performing experiments used in medical research into the prevention and treatment of human diseases such as heart disease, cancer, AIDS, and genetic diseases. In industrial laboratories, biotechnologists help develop and manufacture pharmaceutical drugs or vaccines.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I was very interested in infectious diseases and how they can impact different communities. This led to my decision to go into research so I can… gain the skills necessary to understand public health issues.
