Welcome to College of Health Professions Admissions

The College of Health Professions at SUNY Upstate Medical University prepares students for eight exciting careers in the health care field. Skilled professionals in these career fields are in great demand.

When the SUNY Upstate Medical University’s Office of Admissions receives a completed application, our staff begins a comprehensive, holistic review. This is done without regard to sex, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, age, national origin, disability, veteran status or marital status. In a holistic review process, we consider the applicant as a whole individual rather than select parts, such as GPA or test scores. In doing so, we evaluate applicants based on who will contribute to the SUNY Upstate Medical University’s academic community in meaningful ways. Holistic review takes into account factors such as a student’s strength of coursework, academic and extracurricular interests, unique talents, background, and personality. By evaluating an application from a holistic perspective, we take the time to get to know applicants as people, not as numbers.

Students enter the College of Health Professions with a minimum of two years of college course work for our Bachelor's programs.
  • Students entering the Physical Therapy program must hold a bachelor's degree or be accepted in our 3+3 Early Admission program.
  • Students entering the Physician Assistant or Medical Technology (MS) programs must hold a bachelor's degree from a four-year college.
  • All College of Health Professions students must complete their program's admissions requirements before entering the college. 2+2 Early Admission programs are an option for high school seniors who wish to apply for early admission to one of our bachelor degree programs.

We offer hands-on education, excellent job placement and rewarding careers at affordable SUNY tuition rates.
