The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, post-graduate APRN certificate program, and DNP program at Upstate Medical University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

The Office of Accreditation and Compliance is dedicated to promoting academic excellence and supporting institutional planning through the coordination of accreditation processes, documentation of academic compliance, and implementation of continuous quality improvement strategies. The office also supports activities related to the State University of New York (SUNY), New York State of Education Department (NYSED), and federal compliance requirements for academic program planning, registration and for the support of academic program success.

Accreditation is intended to strengthen and sustain higher education, making it worthy of public confidence and minimizing the scope of external control. Regional accreditation, a means of self-regulation adopted by the higher education community, has evolved to support these goals.

University Accreditation

SUNY Upstate Medical University is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) msche.org . Upstate Medical University’s accreditation status is reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on March 14, 2019 was to reaffirm. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

The next evaluation visit by MSCHE is scheduled for 2026-2027. For more information about MSCHE, you can visit their website at msche.org.  Additionally, you can find our current accreditation status and scope of accreditation in the Statement of Accreditation Status (SAS) on the MSCHE website, which also provides a brief history of the actions taken by the Commission.
