The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through education, biomedical research and health care.
The Office of Academic affairs at Upstate relates to all aspects of our mission. The office works behind the scenes and with the president, vice presidents, deans, faculty and staff across the colleges to support university accreditation, institutional and strategic planning regarding education, and individual educational program development and approval process through SUNY and the New York Office of Education.
We also support academic policy development and revision, the measurement of student learning outcomes and evaluation of educational programs, honorary degrees, and various faculty awards. We work collaboratively with many others who support the academic mission, including the Research Office, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, the Office of Educational Communications, the Student Affairs offices, the Faculty Council (faculty governance), and the directors of accreditation compliance and evaluation, assessment and research.
