SPEAKER: Christine Anzieu-Premmereur, MD, PhD, Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Columbia University.

TITLE: The Role of the Body in Early Development. From Rene Spitz to Contemporary Psychoanalysts, perspectives on the Body Ego in early childhood.

DESCRIPTION: Dr Anzieu-Premmereur will talk about the baby and its body in infant research and clinical work. She plans to report about researches, from Rene Spitz work to Beatrice Beebe and Dan Stern. The presentation will go over the mirror stage and the importance of imitation and identification, to the role of Skin Ego, and psychosomatic issues in infancy, with clinical vignettes of babies and toddlers.
The main topic will be the link between libidinal stages and presymbolic activity in infancy and toddlerhood, with a focus on the intersubjective part of the early development.
