Fun with MAOi's
Thomas L. Schwartz, M.D., Associate Professor, Director of Adult Clinical Services, Medical Student Education, and Anxiety and Depressive Disorders Research Program, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY
The MAOi class of antidepressants is often represented as being a powerful, yet extremely dangerous class of medications. This is perpetuated in most textbooks and is found on many licensing exams. This lecture offers a review of MAOi basic science and real world clinical application guidelines when using MAOi in treating depression.
Dr. Schwartz is a Consultant for Dey Pharma and he will discuss off-label and investigational uses of pharmaceutical products during this presentation.
