  A Symposium on Diving Medicine (ISAM)  
(CME Course)

TARGET AUDIENCE: Physicians, Clinicians, RNs, PAs and allied health professionals.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1) Identify medical conditions and medications that can increase the risk of decompression illness, oxygen toxicity and cardiovascular events for divers.
2) Perform a substance use screen in the context of daily practice to identify those at risk of misusing controlled substances and create a safer alternative treatment plan.
3) Choose appropriate drug testing modalities to assist in the selection and monitoring of patients who may be candidates for long-term use of controlled substances.
4) Counsel patients and families on preventative care, adequate insurance and high cost of futile care.
5)Discuss the Affordable Care Act and its impact on medical care to patients.
6) Review limitations of various drug testing.

Approved for a total of 28 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
