Multi-Diciplinary Mini Symposium on Thyroid Cancer
(CME Course)
TARGET AUDIENCE:
ENT, General Surgery, Primary Care, IM, Endocrine, Radiology, Radiation, Oncology, Medical Oncology, including NP's, PS's, RN's, who may see thyroid patients.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Identify and describe the appropriate follow up, course of treatment, proper referral for patients with thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer
Describe the Betheseda Terminology for thyroid biopsy results
Describe when surgical intervention is necessary, and posible complications.
Distinguish when patients with thyroid cancer need referral for radioactive iodine therapy, external beam radiation and chemotherapy, and when re-operation is necessary.
Describe the American Guidelines for the diagnosis, treatment of patients with thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer.
