Teen Volunteer Information for Community Campus

Applications for the 2018 Summer Teen Program are now CLOSED

Who: Teens must be 14 by June 1.

What: Our teen volunteers provide service in many areas, including Volunteer Express, Patient Transport, Patient Registration, PACU, Emergency Department (Community only), OR Materials, Pathology, Radiology, Wound Care, and Materials Management.

When: If accepted, the Teen Program kicks off with MANDATORY orientation on June 26th from 9am-3pm and continues the duration of the summer until August 31. Teens will volunteer one full day or two half days the same each week. Vacation plans should be disclosed on the application and teens should not miss more than 2 weeks of the program.

Where: Downtown Campus - 750 E. Adams St or Community Campus - 4900 Broad Rd. Teens will have an opportunity to choose their preference, however, we cannot guarantee placement at their first choice.

Cost: Volunteer polo uniform is $15. Volunteers are also required to wear khaki pants or dress slacks and closed-toe shoes.

If I apply, am I automatically accepted? We are proud of our growing teen program, but that means there are limited positions available. We do our best to match as many teens with as many volunteer positions as possible, but due to the high number of applicants, it is not possible to find a match for everyone. We do not offer opportunities on the weekends for teens.

What are you looking for? Our teen volunteers must be interested and enthusiastic about what they are doing. We emphasize independence and ask that the teen fill out their own application. Parents and family, please know, if we trust them in our hospital working independently, we expect them to be the one to communicate with us.
