Educational Activities

The urology department is actively involved in the teaching of medical students, urology residents, primary care physicians and fellows.

Medical students may rotate through the department for 2-4 weeks and get exposed to in-depth adult and pediatric urology.

The fellowship program consists of 2 years of research experience in the department's basic science laboratories. The formal residency program is a 6 year training program with the first two years spent on general surgery. One urology resident per year receives graduated increasing responsibility during exposure to adult and pediatric urological care in two hospitals, the VA and University hospital.

Graduation is conditional upon satisfactory completion of required experience and 6 clinical competencies as described by the Council on Graduate Merdical Education and perpetrated by the ACGME.
