Nursing Department Congress

Purpose

Responsible for oversight, direction, and implementation of nursing department quality, education, research, recruitment, retention and patient care processes.

Members:

• Chief Nursing Officer
• Chair from each Specialty Nursing Governance Team
• Chair from Special Interest Groups
• Administrative Supervisor Representative
• Dean, College of Nursing (ad hoc)
• Nursing Infomatics

Goals and Outcomes:

• To promote the delivery of quality patient centered care. Utilizes current best evidence, patient and family values and preferences and clinical expertise.
• Promotes consistency of nursing standards and policy/procedure implementation across nursing practice areas.
• Foster learning and stimulate professional growth and knowledge of nursing department staff.
• Promote development of and an active and integrated nursing research program.
• Promote continuous improvement of patient care outcomes.
• Promote innovation and cost effectiveness.
• Promote and reinforce patient safety goal implementation.
• Promote an environment that recruits high level professionals and retains our current workforce.
