The MammoSite® Radiation Therapy System is indicated for early stage breast cancer after lumpectomy, utilizing high dose rate brachytherapy. This treatment is a form of internal radiation because it works by delivering radiation from inside the breast directly to the lumpectomy site. Treatments are delivered on an outpatient basis in just 5 days as compared to 6 weeks of external beam irradiation. This procedure provides the patient with one more option for the treatment of breast cancer.
