Radiology Nursing

Radiology nursing at University Hospital is a diverse and challenging profession. Specially trained RNs, with experience in critical care or emergency room nursing, work as a team with doctors and technologists to assist with diagnostic CT and MR scans and interventional tests and procedures.

RNs educate patients and families about their tests, assess patients, give medications for the scans and monitor patients after the tests.

Numerous cutting edge procedures
formerly done in an operating room are routinely
performed in Interventional Radiology:
  • Biopsies
  • Drainage procedures
  • Angioplasties
  • Aneurysm evaluation and Repair

RNs provide patient education prior to the procedure and provide expertise as part of the team during each case.

Nurses in Radiology continue to learn as the field expands. RNs in the department have achieved national certification, as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees as evidence of their commitment to excellence in nursing practice.

RNs are part of a team that provides the highest standard of care during the course of the patient’s visit to the Radiology Department at University Hospital.
