This program provides consultative services in the pre- and post-adoptive periods.
Before
Prior to adoption, parents may meet with a pediatrician and child development
specialist to review the child's medical and developmental background, and to
review and interpret the medical record.
After
Following adoption, children are evaluated
to address physical examination results, review immunization status, and to
answer parents' questions regarding such things as infectious diseases and developmental
milestones, as well as to address general questions regarding the adoption and
integration of the child into the family.
The cases of children adopted domestically
or internationally are accepted by referral from parents, agencies, attorneys
and health care providers.
