HMO Insurances
University Hospital participates with a number of HMO insurance plans. Participation status may change with companies, so please contact your carrier to verify the agreement and determine if authorization is required.
Managed care programs may dictate where their members receive care and they often require preauthorization for specialized services. If the plan does not authorize treatment at University Hospital you will be billed for charges.
Copayments
We make every effort to collect copayments at the time service is rendered. Copayments are specified in your contract. If you are unable to make payment, you will be given an opportunity to make financial arrangements.
Additional Bills
University Hospital bills for its staff services and operating expenses.
In addition, you may receive bills for physician services and/or lab and radiology services depending on your treatment. Ambulatory surgery patients will receive a bill for anesthesia.
Discussion with Registration personnel concerning your insurance benefits will reflect authorization/coverage for the hospital portion of the bill, not for any other services rendered at the Hospital.
Please direct your inquiries regarding
