Team Upstate volunteers participated in the annual Duck Race to End Racism in June. Upstate’s duck, decorated to highlight Upstate’s Cancer Center, was a two-time winner--it won the race and "best dressed duck" award.

Team Upstate raised more than $3,000 at the annual AIDS Walk/Run held in June, to support the basic needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Team Upstate volunteers served two meals at the Samaritan Center in Syracuse in April.

The Upstate chapter of Colleges Against Cancer raised $3,800 for the American Cancer Society at the Relay for Life in April, and won the “Best Team Spirit” award.

Almost 700 Upstate employees, friends and family participated in the Heart Walk in April, and raised over $38,000 to benefit the American Heart Association's fight against heart disease and stroke.

Upstate employees volunteered at the Father Daughter Valentine Ball in February, attended by 651 dads and little girls. The annual event raised over $33,000 to support pediatric services at Upstate.

Team captains gathered in February for the 2010 Heart Walk kickoff event. They will begin recruiting Upstate students and employees, friends and families to join Team Upstate at the walk on April 17.

Hundreds of people attended the Upstate Gala in December, raising over $250,000 to support the new Upstate Cancer Center and the Upstate Cancer Research Institute.

Upstate students and employees collected hundreds of blankets, sheets, towels, warm clothing, and toys for the needy in our community during the holiday season.

An enthusiastic group of veterans-–all of whom are Upstate Medical University employees –– gathered to march together in Syracuse’s Veterans' Day Parade in November.
