Transplant Coordinators
Key to any successful transplant program are its transplant coordinators. University Hospital's Transplant Program is fortunate to have a full complement of skilled and experienced Transplant Coordinators.
Transplant Coordinators assist with:
- Transplant patient during all phases of their contact at University Hospital and beyond.
- Pretransplant evaluation and education processand act as a resource for our referring physicians and Dialysis Units.
- Evaluation and coordination of our active Living Donor Program.
During the transplant hospitalization, they assist the nurses in the Transplant Unit with education of the transplant recipient, and help coordinate the discharge process.
Post transplant, they assist the transplant surgeons and physicians in follow-up of the patients in the Transplant Clinic, and act as an additional liaison for the referring physicians as the recipients return to their local care.
The three clinical coordinators are nurse practitioners.
The coordinating team are our social worker and financial coordinator. Both play a very important role in preparing the patient for his of her future transplant as well as assisting in discharge planning following his or her transplant surgery.
