Committee Chairs
Scholarship Committee Chair
The chair of this committee are responsible for planning review sessions for unit exams and
optional lecture events (working with peer medical education group) for MS1 through MS3 students, creating/updating student
guides (working together w/ Pass the Torch) and informing students about elective
selection. They also work with Admissions in helping to recruit for Upstate at
undergraduate universities and at high school career days.

Service Committee Chairs
The chair are responsible for planning AΩA involvement in local and
national community service projects. This year the group is focused on Wednesday night Migrant health Clinic and SC Hope, as well as Better World Books, a project to bring accurate, up to date literature to third world countries. Examples of past projects
include the Heart Walk, Toys for Tots Drive, and Walk for the Cure. These chairperson
also head up recruiting both AΩA and Upstate participation for these
events.

Research Day Committee Chair
The chair help plan, recruit, and
prepare student participation in Student Research Day on March 25, 2009. Research chairperson work with
graduate students and basic science faculty in coordinating the exhibition,
presentation and general coordination of the day.

Guest Lecturer Committee Chair
The chair are responsible for inviting and sponsoring a speaker to campus each year.

Website Committee Chair
This chairperson is responsible for updating, designing and maintaining the
local AΩA website. Creativity and knowledge of web design is key to
ensure the website will become a useful site for current AΩA information
and membership, as well as an academic resource for first and second year
students.

Binghamton Clinical Campus Committee Chairs*
This chairperson coordinates Syracuse and Binghamton activities, as well as
provides information to students who spend their clinical years in Binghamton
to ease the transition to the Clinical Campus. They work to coordinate meetings
between senior students and upcoming 3rd and 4th years
regarding track and elective selection. A new project the Binghamton AΩA members have brought to the Clinical Campus this year is review sessions for shelf exams for third year cherkships.

Marketing and Fundraising Committee Chair
This chairperson is responsible for raising general monies for AΩA and
also increasing campus awareness of AΩA as an organization. Funds raised help
support AΩA endeavors in community service, academics, mentoring and the
senior banquet.
