Ramesh SachdevaRamesh Sachdeva, MD

Sr. Vice President, Strategic Affairs, Regional Strategy & Quality

Dr. Sachdeva works closely with clinical and academic leaders across the university to develop the strategic plan for Upstate Medical University, support the University’s regional growth strategy, and accelerate the quality improvement and safety clinical initiatives at Upstate.  He has launched the implementation of Project ECHO activities at Upstate and is also leading new efforts at incorporating Decision Quality science for structured decision-making across the University. Dr. Sachdeva is a pediatric faculty practicing in the areas of pediatric critical care and sleep medicine at Golisano Children’s Hospital.  Prior to joining Upstate, Dr. Sachdeva served as an executive at the American Academy of Pediatrics and Principal Investigator for a federal grant which included the application of Project ECHO for improving access to care for children and youth with epilepsy.  He continues to serve as the Medical Director for Project ECHO at the American Academy of Pediatrics related to the next cycle of funding for this grant.


Deidre KeefeDeidre Keefe M.S., CHES

Program Manager

Deidre Keefe, M.S., CHES, joined the Office of the President in 2017, as the Project Manager ECHO where she is responsible for transforming the way education and knowledge are delivered to people in CNY’s rural and underserved communities. Project ECHO, a worldwide health   initiative, is new to Upstate Medical University and the CNY community. Deidre is looking forward to planning new growth opportunities for Project ECHO and managing complex projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Deidre, a nationally recognized Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), received her immersion training at the University of New Mexico’s ECHO Institute in October 2017. She has been integral to the launch of SUNY Upstate’s ECHO program and is looking forward to bringing new ECHO’s to the University that will have a lasting impact on regional and national healthcare outcomes.


Margaret HartmannMargaret (Margie) Hartmann, PTA, M.S., CHES

Program Coordinator

Margie joined the Office of Strategic Affairs in April 2018 for the Endocrinology ECHO. She is responsible for planning and implementing ECHO educational activities and teleECHO clinics. Additionally, she is a liaison between project sites and partners working closely with all parties to assist with facilitating the teleECHO clinics. Margie has earned her Master's in Community Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health Education. In April 2017, Margie was nationally recognized as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and in May 2018 received immersion training at the University of New Mexico’s ECHO Institute. She looks forward to assisting in the implementation of Project ECHO at Upstate Medical University to address health initiatives in CNY’s rural and underserved communities. Email Margie at
