The Contemporary Issues in Emergency Medicine conference is an annual day-long presentation by the Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The conference is developed keeping in mind the broad range of providers so vital to the success of the field of emergency medicine. The topics are chosen for their applicability to the practice of, and perceived interest by EMS providers, ED nurses and emergency physicians as well as other health care providers who deal with the sick or injured patient. Efforts are made to be inclusive of lecture material pertinent to all of these providers. The Contemporary Issues conference is being offered for the 12th consecutive year – this year with an emphasis on a variety of conditions which have potential to acutely jeopardize the lives of those afflicted.
