Proteomics Core Facility

Two Micromass mass spectrometers, a TOFSPEC-2E MALDI and a QTOF-micro quadropole time-of-flight electrospray with capillary HPLC are available.

The facility will provide matrix solutions and protein and peptide standards for calibration; users must purchase all other consumables (primarily target plates). The MALDI will be primarily operated by certified users to run their own samples, while the QTOF will be primarily operated by Facility staff.

For data analysis, users can process their data and perform database searchers off-line using the IBM workstation. Extensive data analysis (more than one hour) should be performed during the evening or weekends. QTOF data sets can require lengthy processing by a knowledgeable operator. Therefore, it is highly recommended that QTOF users take the Micromass training course, which covers data analysis.

There is a fee structure for use.
