Goals

  • Increase awareness among regional industry of basic and clinical research strengths at Upstate Medical University.
  • Increase the awareness at Upstate of the interests of regional industry (focusing on biotech, biodevice, small and large molecule therapeutics, and stem cell technologies and products).
  • Discuss the role of the Central New York Biotechnology Research Center in stimulating further academic—industry collaboration in these focus areas.

9:15 - 10:30 am Executive Summaries by Upstate research leaders from each of Upstate’s four pillars and foundational sciences (four pillar leaders for 15 minutes each and one foundational science leader for 15 minutes).

10:45 am - 12:30 pm Executive Summaries by Industry representatives (seven speakers for 15 minutes each, brief overview of each company’s technologies, products and strategic priorities)
12:30 - 1 pm Lunch
1 - 1:30 pm Keynote “Capacity for University-Industry Collaboration: A Survey of New York’s Biomedical Landscape” James Weyhenmeyer, PhD, Senior VP for Research and Economic Development, SUNY, and Senior VP for Research, Research Foundation, SUNY
1:30 - 3:10 pm Breakout groups (pillars and foundational sciences) using “speed dating” format.
