Upstate Active Clinical Trials

Study Title:

Observational study of Postural Stability and Dual-Task Testing: Baseline, Injury, and time-course for recovery.

What is the purpose of the study?

We are doing this research study on balance and thinking because we need more information about how balance and thinking are affected by concussion. By collecting blood and data from individuals who have not had a concussion and from those who have had a concussion, we hope to improve our evaluation procedures.

Therefore, the purpose of this study is to collect information about balance and thinking under a series of tasks that challenge your balance. We would also like to collect a small amount of blood to test for certain proteins (such as S100B), which shows promise for being an identifying marker for concussion. In addition, we are researching a technique called pupilometry to measure how your pupils (the black part of your eye) respond to light after a head injury
