In Vivo Micro-CT is a core facility of the State University of
New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.

It is a full service micro computed tomography laboratory designed for micro imaging of living small laboratory animals. This core facility was established in January 2007 and is located in room 4143 (DLAR) Weiskotten Hall.

It contains a MicroCAT II (Siemens Preclinical Solutions) Micro-Computed Tomography Scanner, a state-of-the-art tool for investigating morphology and physiology in living small laboratory animals (up to 7 cm in diameter).

This equipment allows non-invasive high-resolution (down to 27 microns) imaging of the same living animal over time to perform lateral studies, e.g. to monitor the progression of disease or the response to therapy.

Dr. Andrzej Krol is the Scientific Director, and is in charge of the in vivo micro-CT core lab, which includes MicroCATII scanner, gas anesthesia system, physiological monitoring system, remote tomographic reconstruction server and image processing workstation. He consults with PI's on matters of experimental design and data analysis.

Pilot Study Program

After discussion with the in vivo micro-CT core director feasibility of a new project, a charge for up to two pilot scans for this project may be waived.
