What is RSS?

Google Descriptions for RSS
Rich Site Summary (RSS) is a Web standard for publishing news headlines. RSS a method of sending headlines to subscribers through news services, associated web sites, and client readers. RSS feeds enable subscribers to efficiently scan news headlines from several sites in a compatible reader without actually visiting those sites. If the user sees a headline of interest, a click on a headline jumps to a view the complete news article on the host website or service. Depending on the feed, a short article summary may also be viewable directly in the reader.

Many sites will display one or both of the following icons indicating an available feed.

These icons are normally linked to a news feed URL which presents a page formatted in RSS—or sometimes to an instruction page like the one you are reading. This URL needs to be copied into a reader for proper viewing.
