the Black Hisotry Month events began with a panel discussion entitled “Clinical Trials & the African American Community: Confronting the Issues & Shining a Positive Light.” The speakers were (from left to right): Paula Trief, PhD, senior associate dean for faculty affairs and faculty development; professor of psychiatry and medicine, who spoke about Clinical Trials: Behavioral Interventions for African Americans; Nicholas Bennett, MBBChir, PhD, pediatric infectious disease fellow, who spoke about Children of African Descent in Clinical Research; and K. Bruce Simmons, MD, medical director of employee and student health, who spoke about Clinical Trials and Health Disparities.
