Consultation Experiences

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Intake/Consultation Service

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Intake/Consultation Service is the gateway to the overall array of services in our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic. The goal of the consultation is to provide the family with some direction and to determine the need for further services. Psychology Child & Adolescent Fellows have the opportunity to be involved in this process by observing and/or actively participating in the consultations. This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with our colleagues in Psychology and Social Work.

Inpatient Pediatric Consultation Service

Pediatric Consultation Service is a joint venture between the Departments of Child Psychiatry and Pediatrics. It affords pediatric attending physicians and residents the opportunity for psychological and psychiatric consultation for their patients who present to Golisano Children's Hospital with emotional and behavioral problems. The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Psychology teams liaison with the pediatric service in this interdisciplinary approach to patient care.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders Program

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders Program at Syracuse University is a nationally recognized center for the assessment and treatment of ADHD. Children, adolescents, and adults referred to this clinic for evaluation undergo a comprehensive protocol of rating scales, interviews, and psychological testing. Child & Adolescent Fellows work intensely in all phases of this process and learn the skills required to handle ADHD referrals.

Project TEACH

Second year Fellows spend a rotation block providing one-time outpatient face-to-face consultations for children in New York State under the guidance and supervision of Drs. MacMaster and Khoury.  The goals of this rotation are to gain proficiency in brief consultation strategies, clinical formulations, and providing reports for primary care providers across the State.
