Early Admission — College of Health Professions

2+2 Early Admission for Undergraduate Programs


SUNY Upstate offers Junior and Senior years of college toward a bachelor's degree. Through our 2+2 Early Admission Program, students can apply to SUNY Upstate's College of Health Professions while in high school or in the first year of college.

Accepted students will complete a minimum of 60 semester hours of college level prerequisites at the college of their choice. Upstate guarantees these students a position in one of the following upper-division programs providing the student has met all conditions as outlined in their letter of acceptance.

  • Cardiovascular Perfusion, BS
  • Cytotechnology, BS
  • Medical Biotechnology, BS
  • Medical Technology, BS
  • Medical Imaging Sciences, S or BPS
  • Respiratory Care, B.S.
  • Radiation Therapy, BS or BPS

Admission Requirements

To qualify for consideration students must follow these guidelines:

  • Apply during their senior year of high school or first year of college.
  • Demonstrate a commitment in pursuing a health profession by volunteer and/or observational experience in their profession of choice or participation in a Health Explorers Post or New Visions Program.
  • Present a strong overall record of achievement in college preparatory course work, which must include at least three years of mathematics (Course I, II and III or Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II/Trigonometry) and at least three years of science (including Biology and Chemistry or Physics) at the Regents or Honors level.

Suggested academic guidelines:
  • 90% average in a college preparatory program
  • competitive SAT scores
  • at least a three-year sequence in math and science
Submit all paperwork by March 1.

Accepted students must:

  • successfully complete all prerequisite courses for their major, as outlined in their letter of acceptance
    • maintain a required cumulative grade point average (varies by program)
    • continue their involvement in the health profession through volunteer, observational or research experience.
