Webcasting FAQs—SUNY Upstate Medical University Council Meeting
Which Media Player do I need?
You will need a media player to watch the live and/or on-demand streams. The most common media players are Windows Media Player, Real Player, and Quicktime. Your computer most likely has at least one of these players installed on it. To download a media player for free or to ensure that you have the latest version, you can visit the media players websites: Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Quicktime.
What if I have Dial-up?
Whether you are on broadband or dial-up, you will still be able to watch the meetings. Each of our streams includes both a 200k stream for broadband users and a 56k stream for dial-up users. Your media player will automatically choose the appropriate stream for you based on your connection speed.
Can I watch with Quicktime?
Yes, you can watch these videos with Quicktime - but you may need to install the appropriate plug-in.
Can I use FireFox?
Yes, you can watch the video embedded in a webpage with the FireFox web browser. However, FireFox does not display the player controls (play, stop, etc). Therefore, it is recommended that you use Internet Explorer.
