Request a GUIDELINES (Hard Copy):

Child Sexual Offense Medical Protocol
Rape Crisis Program
New York State Department of Health
ESP—Corning Tower
Albany, NY 12237

These Guidelines were developed to provide a succinct reference for use by health care practitioners who treat children and adolescents who may have been sexually abused. They are intended for use by the practitioner who has experience in performing these exams, as a checklist to ensure all appropriate procedures are perforned in a manner that is least traumatic to the child or adolescent patient.

The topics and questions listed are intended to guide the health care practitioner through the sexual abuse medical evaluation.

The topics link to the information in the text. This is an abbreviation of information health care practitioners need to conduct these evaluations. The chapter and page number information listed in each section corresponds to the location of more detailed information that can be found in the 3-ring binder entitled Child and Adolescent Sexual Offense Medical Protocol.
