Surgical Pathology is staffed by eight board certified and fellowship-trained surgical pathologists. It offers a full range of diagnostic and consultative services supported by a state-of-the-art Histology and Special Procedure Laboratory equipped to provide a comprehensive array of histochemical, immunohistochemical and molecular ancillary studies for diagnostic and prognostication purposes.
Our pathologists are dedicated to deliver the best, most accurate and prompt diagnostic services. Active communication with referring clinicians and pathologists is an important part of our services.
In addition to practicing general surgical pathology on a routine basis, each pathologist has special interest and expertise in two or three subspecialized areas of surgical pathology, which include breast, bone, head and neck, general oncological, gastrointestinal, gynecological, pediatric, pulmonary/thoracic, urological, skin, and soft tissue pathology. Our pathologists regularly participate in interdisciplinary clinical management conferences at Upstate University Hospital in most of these areas.
Education of residents, fellows and medical students, and clinically-oriented research in collaboration with other departments of Upstate Medical University are also key elements of our practice.
