We strive to improve the health of the communities we serve
through education, biomedical research and healthcare.

Community is built into our Mission

Upstate Medical University serves people from throughout this region, providing health care and education. Upstate’s values include serving our community, embracing diversity and inclusion. All are welcome here.

Upstate reaches out to the Central New York community through formal efforts — such as screenings for illnesses, providing information on health issues and established programs — and through volunteer efforts created by Upstate clinicians, faculty, staff and students.

As the region’s largest employer, Upstate is committed to hiring, training and promoting people based on merit and work ethic — helping thousands of people improve their lives and the lives of their families.
