Schedules
Working Hours
In 1989, the New York State legislature mandated specific regulations regarding work schedules for medical residents. The Department of ObGyn follows these dictates which include:
- Average work week of 80 hours
- Maximum on-duty time of 24 hours
- Minimum of 10 hours off between work shifts. (as mandated by the ACGME)
Our rotation, call, and vacation schedules were developed to integrate the regulations of both the SUNY Guidelines and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our schedules strive to provide a comprehensive educational experience and maintain a balanced and equitable program for all residents.
