About the Nursing Alumni Association
What is the Alumni Association?
- It was established in 1992 as a non-profit, tax-exempt association.
- There are over 2,000 members. Alumni are automatically a member upon graduation.
- Members include all graduates of the College of Nursing, plus all graduates of two former nursing programs: AAS Degree program (1959 - 1977) and the NP Certificate Program (1974-1984).
- There is an alumni Board of Directors, which represents all former and current nursing programs
What We Do
We are here to support the students and faculty of the college.
- We currently give out 7 scholarships to College of Nursing students.
- Provide equipment for the Nursing Alumni Clinical Skills Laboratory.
- Financial support to our student organization, SACON.
 The Staff
Alicia Fereday Shiland, Alumni Director
College of Nursing
Alicia became the Alumni Director in November 2005. She is responsible for the annual campaign, alumni relations, scholarships, and major and corporate gifts to the Alumni Association. A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, she will graduate with a Masters of Business Administration from Walden University in September 2006. She came to Upstate from Christian Brothers Academy, where she was the Coordinator of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.
Anita Steere, Administrative Assistant
Nursing Alumni Association
 Anita is an asset to the Alumni Office. She is responsible for assisting the director at Alumni Association meetings, alumni events and various other tasks. Anita is a graduate of Columbia College and has been in the Alumni Office sine July 2004.
