A housekeeper, administrative assistant, two physicians, an admissions officer and a data coordinator are honored with SUNY Chancellor awards for their excellence in service, teaching and scholarship.

Mary Nelson, an Upstate Medical University employee and longtime community activist whose efforts to provide Syracuse youth with brighter beginnings have been widely recognized, has added the New York state Senate’s “Women of Distinction” award to her accolades.

James Dwyer, Ph.D., has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship grant to teach bioethics at the Medical School of National Taiwan University in Taipei. He also will lead discussions on the ethical decisions made in end-of-life care as well as ethical issues that arise in the context of Taiwan’s universal healthcare and public health sectors.
