  • DANCING FOR DOLLARS FOR GOLISANO: Syracuse University students raised nearly $110,000 during their annual Ottothon dance marathon March 23 to support Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. It’s SU’s tenth year dancing for Golisano. The 12-hour dance, coordinated with the Upstate Foundation, has raised more than $100,000 annually since its inception.

  • BALD IS BEAUTFIUL: Team Upstate members were sheared by stylists at Vinyasa Salon and Spa to raise money and awareness for St. Baldrick's Foundation's fight against childhood cancer. The Upstate community raised more than $9,000 to fund pediatric oncology research and clinical trials.

  • SHARING KNOWLEDGE: Air Upstate’s team that supports Upstate’s drone program was the featured presenter earlier this month at the Future Women in STEM Series, sponsored by MACNY and held at the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse. The series for middle school girls provided an overview of various STEM areas, such as engineering and electronics.

  • POSTER PRESENTERS: Surgery residents Naveed Rahman, MD, and Sydney Read, MD, were among those offering poster presentations at Beyond the Doctorate Research Day March 6. More than 30 posters highlighting research by Upstate students and faculty were on display, highlighting a range of research subjects, including blood loss during Cesarean delivery, medication adherence and ischemic stroke.
