Upstate Gala steps off Nov. 21

Proceeds from the event will support patient care and comfort amenities, and unmet patient needs at Upstate University Hospital’s Community and Downtown campuses, and Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“We’re very excited about this year’s Gala,” said Eileen Pezzi, vice president for development at Upstate. “SKY Armory offers an urban, contemporary venue as we celebrate the year that Upstate opened its doors to patients and the year that our foundation hosted its first gala, an event¬†that over the years has raised more than $7 million for people who turn to Upstate for their care.”

It was 1964 when Upstate’s Downtown Campus opened and 1989 when Upstate Foundation presented its first gala, then called Dancing in the Woods and held downtown at Franklin Square in Bridgewater Place, benefiting the heliport. Both milestones will be celebrated at the gala through the music of each era.

Magical Mystery Tour will perform Beatles classics as well as music from the British Invasion. Black Tie Entertainment will provide a wide variety of music from 1989 on a lighted dance floor. A lounge will be open for those who prefer a piano as background music.

The event also includes fine cuisine and unique entertainment surprises created especially for the gala.

Sponsor opportunities for gala are still available. The deadline for Gala reservations is Monday, Nov. 10. For more information about gala sponsor levels, tickets and the Prelude Party, visit Upstate Foundation or call the Foundation at 315-464-4416.
