Strong Women, Strong Hearts debuts Feb. 4

The special event was created by Upstate nurses who wanted to better educate women about heart disease. The event will feature presentations from healthcare professionals and a variety of heart-healthy food-tastings and exercise tips. The event is free and open to the public.

It finally looks like January in Syracuse as the front yard of Upstate Medical University's Weiskotten Hall is covered in a blanket of snow. Many area schools closed because of the winter weather, but there were no such delays or closings on campus.

Study will compare benefits of an electrical stimulation device or ankle-foot brace in treatment for common side effect of stroke, call foot drop. Upstate is one of 30 sites in the nation participating in the study.

Tim Connolly, a Baldwinsville native who has played professional hockey for 10 years and is now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has contributed $100,000 to the Upstate Cancer Center fundraising campaign, bringing the campaign closer to its $15 million goal.
