SUNY Upstate offers free smoking cessation classes to the public

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Thinking of kicking the habit?

SUNY Upstate Medical University is offering the public free smoking cessation courses. The seven-session programs will feature behavior modification techniques designed to get smokers to break the habit. The free classes are being made possible by a grant from the Advocates for Upstate Medical University.

Classes area offered at four different locations and run for seven weeks. Below is a complete listing of classes:

Classes held at HealthLink, lower level of Shoppingtown Mall, Dewitt, will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1, 3, 9, 15 and 22.

Classes held at the Syracuse Community Health Center, 819 S. Salina St., Syracuse, will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1, 3, 10, 15 and 22.

Classes held at the Syracuse Community Health Center, 1938 E. Fayette St., Syracuse, will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1, 3, 10, 15 and 22.

Classes held at the Liverpool Public Library, 310 Tulip St., Liverpool, will meet from noon to 1 p.m., Oct. 12, 19, 26, 29, 2, 9 and 16.
