Phillip S. Schaengold, J.D., named CEO of University Hospital

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- SUNY Upstate Medical University has appointed Phillip S. Schaengold, J.D., as chief executive officer of University Hospital and senior associate dean for hospital affairs in the College of Medicine. The appointment, effective immediately, was announced today, Jan. 24, by Steven J. Scheinman, M.D., executive vice president and dean of the College of Medicine.


University Hospital announces new treatment for GERD

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-University Hospital is now offering the Plicator procedure, a new treatment option for individuals who are dependent on medications or who would otherwise need surgery to control symptoms of heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The procedure, performed on an outpatient basis at University Hospital, has been shown to reduce or completely eliminate symptoms and medication use associated with GERD.


SUNY Upstate, Empire State College begin new degree program for clinical research associates

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-SUNY Upstate Medical University is collaborating with SUNY Empire State College's FORUM Management Education Program to offer a new bachelor's degree program for clinical research associates (CRA) through the FORUM Management Education Program. The degree program begins Feb. 27; orientation will be held Feb. 17.
