SUNY Upstate Medical University President Gregory L. Eastwood, M.D., has been elected vice president of the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR). The panel seeks to support research-based nursing practice by educating nursing professionals and the public about advances made through nursing research and its benefits to patients, families, communities and health care.

Miracle Ride raises $33,700 for Children's Miracle Network

CNY Children's Miracle Network campaign raises $921,500

The CNY Children's Miracle Network (CMN) campaign, that culminated with the June 2 CMN broadcast on WIXT NewsChannel 9, raised $921,500, exceeding last year's total of $882,980. All proceeds raised through the campaign benefit children who receive their medical care at University and Crouse hospitals in Syracuse.

More than 550 cancer survivors and their families are expected to attend the National Cancer Survivors Day celebration at the Holiday Inn, Liverpool, Electronics Parkway, Sunday June 2. The event, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., will feature a buffet lunch and entertainment by the Trinidad and Tobago Steelband.


Stephen Albanese, MD, elected to board of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

Orthopaedic surgeon Stephen A. Albanese, M.D., of Manlius, was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons at the organization's 69th annual meeting February 13-17, held in Dallas. He will serve as Member-at-Large.
