Chief of pediatric surgery at Yale University School of Medicine to deliver Pickett Lecture at SUNY Upstate April 17

Robert J. Touloukian, M.D., chief of pediatric surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, will deliver the first annual Pickett Lecture in Pediatric Surgery April 17 at 8 a.m. in 2231 Weiskotten Hall, 766 Irving Ave, Syracuse. Touloukoan's lecture, titled "Progress (or Not) in the Management of Short Bowel Syndrome in Infancy and Childhood," is free and open to the public. The lecture is part of SUNY Upstate's Lawrence Pickett, M.D., Lectureship in Pediatric Surgery.

Touloukian is professor of surgery and pediatrics and chief of pediatric surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven Hospital and New Haven Children's Hospital. Touloukian is a former student and colleague of Pickett's at Yale.

Pickett was the first pediatric surgeon in the Syracuse area, teaching at Upstate Medical University from 1954 to 1964 before joining Yale Medical School in 1964. After retiring from Yale in 1983, Pickett served as medical director for the medical equipment manufacturer Welch Allyn in Skaneateles until 1995.
