'Little Gifts for Life' auction to benefit University Hospital's children's cancer center is March 23 at the Oncenter

The sixth annual dinner and auction "Little Gifts for Life" to benefit University Hospital's Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders will be held Saturday, March 23 at the Oncenter, 800 S. State St.

A Patron Preview Party will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a silent auction at 7 p.m. Dinner and a live auction will start at 8: 30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Prime Time.

Since its inception in 1997, the auction has raised more than $600,000, including more than $200,000 last year. Funds raised from the auction have helped purchase infusion chairs, sleeper chairs, camp sponsorships for children with sickle cell, as well as support education and research activities at the center.

The auction is organized by the families and friends of pediatric patients, physicians and nurses from the Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders and Children's Miracle Network staff.

The Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders provides diagnostic testing and treatment for children with various malignancies and for children with hematologic abnormalities. Presently, 700 children from the Canadian border to northern Pennsylvania are served by the center and 50 to 60 new patients are referred for evaluation and treatment each year.
