SUNY Upstate taps trauma expert to serve as surgery chair

Paul Cunningham, M.D., professor and chief of the division of general surgery at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, has been named chair of the department of surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The appointment was announced by Michael Roizen, M.D., vice president for clinical affairs and dean of the College of Medicine.


Gala to benefit Upstate Cancer Center at SUNY Upstate Medical University

A representative from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will be joined by SUNY Upstate Medical University researchers and administrators Saturday, Nov. 17 in a program designed to educate key segments of the population about the merits of participating in clinical trials.


Children with cancer and blood disorders create holiday greeting cards to benefit University Hospital

Holiday greeting cards created by Central New York children afflicted with cancer and blood disorders will be sold to benefit the Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders at University Hospital. This is the sixth consecutive year that patients from the center have designed greeting cards for the fundraiser. Since 1996 more than $27,000 has been raised by the card sale.

University Hospital's HealthLink program presents schedule of free health seminars

All seminars are free and open to the public and are held in the Oasis complex on the lower level of Shoppingtown Mall just inside the Kauffman's entrance. University Hospital's Health Connections establishes community hotline for information about biological agents

University Hospital's Health Connections has added a new telephone hotline to its audio library in an effort to give Central New Yorkers timely and accurate medical information about biological agents. The hotline can be accessed 24 hours a day by calling Health Connections at 315-464-8668, press the number 1 twice then press the number 2-9-9-9 to hear a recorded message. To talk with a nurse, press the star key.
