President Gregory L. Eastwood, MD, meets with new leaders at SU and ESF

The new leaders of University Hill’s three higher education institutions got together for the first time Jan. 17 when Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud, JD, center, hosted a breakfast for Greg Eastwood, MD, of Upstate Medical University, left, and Quentin Wheeler, PhD, of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Eastwood became interim president of Upstate in November while Syverud and Wheeler were in their first week as campus leaders. “I had a very cordial meeting with Chancellor Syverud and President Wheeler,” said Eastwood. “They both seem to be remarkably capable leaders and they are eager to develop more educational and research programs and other interactions among our three institutions. We agreed to meet frequently. I look forward to that and to seeing ESF, SU and Upstate develop a more ‘functional unit’ on The Hill.”
