Neuroscience Research Building opens

Rosemary Rochford, PhD, vice president for research at Upstate Medical University, cuts the ribbon to officially open Upstate′s Neuroscience Research Building during ceremonies held Oct. 21. Joining Rochford are, from left, Assemblyman William B. Magnarelli; Assemblyman Al Stirpe; Upstate Medical University President David R. Smith, MD; and University Professor and former Upstate president Gregory L. Eastwood, MD. The $72 million, 158,273 square foot Neuroscience Research Building is an expansion of Upstate’s Institute for Human Performance. It will bring together Upstate researchers from different disciplines and departments to perform cutting-edge research to understand the science of the brain.
